About Janet

I live in Northolt, England and have been making bespoke cards, using designs painted on acetate, since 2005. I particularly enjoy Celtic designs as they are quite challenging. As painting on acetate involves glass paints – painting glass seemed the next logical step – most of the glassware comes from Charity Shops or charity stalls at fairs, which is a nice way of recycling the items.

For the roundels or sun catchers, I lead the glass blanks and solder where necessary – and then outline and paint the designs.

Using glass as a medium has led to making jewellery with glass beads and cabochons…..the variety of items increases…and then there is the decoupage...

In 2007 my extremely supportive husband and I had our first public venture - Exhibiting on a colourful market stall at the Canalway Cavalcade in Little Venice. This wonderful experience has been repeated annually although we have gone from one stall to a 3m x 3m gazebo with 3 tables!

Since 2008 The Open Day at the Kensal Green Cemetery has provided an unusual location to exhibit glassware, cards and jewellery. We have since added Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park Summer Fair and Brompton Cemetery Open Day to the events - there is a theme here!

Gladstonebury Park, Bentley Priory, Respect Festival, Harrow’s Under One Sky Festival, Roxeth Show, RAF Northolt Open Day, Angel Canal Festival, Shalford Village Hall, Greenford Festival, Wraysbury Village Fair, Hampstead Heath Fun Day, Strawberry Hill Music & Fun Day, Colne Valley Festival and St John's Wood Christmas Fayre have made up of the long list of events we have attended. Unfortunately Gladstone Park Family Fun Day and the Respect Festival have been disbanded due to lack of funds from Brent council.

The Hanwell Carnival and Brentford Festival have been regular venues and have been very rewarding. They have introduced us to some fine music on their stages including local lads Et tu Bruce

A list of all the events are in the Events - Archive and for the current year in Events - hope to meet up with you and where you can see the items up close.
